Since its inception in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, in 1963, Lands’ End has grown to be a major American retailer of casual apparel, luggage, and home décor. Gary Comer was founded by Richard Stearns and Robert Halperin, two gold medal-winning sailors from the 1963 Pan American Games, as well as two of Halperin’s staff. Land’s End was the official provider of USA Rugby Union outfits for a brief while in the late 1980s.

In 2002, Sears paid $2 billion in cash for the business. Lands’ End clothing can be ordered by mail or online at the Lands’ End Inlet store, as well as in numerous Sears retail locations. Stores such as these (a reversal pun used for outlet stores). After forming a “digital collaboration” with House of Fraser in 2012, Debenhams began selling on Amazon in 2016.
