There are several resources required in the manufacture of cotton, making it a resource-intensive material. Artificial irrigation requirements for plants plus the vast amount of water required by textile companies during dyeing and preparation of textiles might result in a water consumption of 2,500 litres for the production of a typical t-shirt.

However, organic cotton is unaffected by this problem. Employing rainwater, producing no pollutants, and using a more environmentally friendly method of production, organic cotton can reduce water use by up to 90%, Textile Exchange claims. Additionally, it helps to preserve the surrounding ecology and soil. A sustainable material, organic cotton, is used in the construction of the outer shell. 75 percent polyester and 25 percent organic cotton compose the pocket lining, which is fastened with a zipper for further ease.
