Casa Batllo
In addition to being a UNESCO World Heritage site, Casa Batlló is also a well-known landmark in Barcelona. It can be found at number 43 on Paseo de Gracia. The building was constructed in the year 1877 by Emilio Sala Cortés, who was a professor of architecture under Gaudí. In the year 1903, Josep Batlló y Casanovas acquired the property. The structure was initially dismantled, but between 1904 and 1906, Antoni Gaudí undertook a transformation that involved a total alteration of the facade. He did this by redistributing the internal partitioning, widening the lightwell, and transforming the interior into a genuine piece of art. There are aspects that signal the architectural styles of the late 20th century that are incorporated into the building, which is functional and more representative of current times than of more traditional eras.
Within the context of The Bone of Contention, the Batlló family was actively involved in the process of reforming other houses that were competing for urban honours. Casa Amatller, Casa Lleó Morera, Casa Mulleras, and Casa Josefina Bonet are the four houses that make up this peculiar group. These houses are a component of the group. The Bernat family has been in possession of Casa Batlló since the 1990s, and while they have been there, they have completely renovated the house. In 1995, the family decided to expose the house to the general public, and since 2002, they have been providing cultural tours. Those who are interested in Gaudí’s work and modernity should not miss the opportunity to visit Casa Batlló, which typically receives one million tourists each year.
