In addition, there is a Railcard available for you, regardless of who you are. Therefore, get yours right away.
The average yearly savings of £146 is calculated by calculating the average savings made by combined Railcard subscribers between April 2022 and March 2023. This calculation does not take into account the cost of the Railcard.
Railcard Prices
The greater part of Railcards can be obtained on the official website, and with the Railcard App, you can get a digital version of the Railcard on your mobile device or smartphone. Annual Railcards can also be purchased at any National Rail staffed ticket office.
Train tickets can be bought at the counter or online, but to avail a discounted ticket, the Railcard must be presented at the time of travel. You will be required to surrender your rail ticket in the event of your failure to observe this requirement.
Most railcards are available to purchase online and thanks to the railcard app, you can even get a digital version of the railcard on your mobile device. You can also purchase Railcards with one year validity at any National Rail ticket office.
So, if you still prefer to buy your train tickets, whether in person or through the internet, then there is still a chance for you to avail of the cheaper tickets, and this is through presenting your Railcard. If you don’t meet this requirement, then you are not allowed to use your train ticket.

26-30 Railcard
If you are between the age of 26 and 30, you can get one-third off off-peak rail fares across the whole of the United Kingdom for just thirty pounds per year.
The 26-30 Railcard is the first Railcard that is not available as a plastic card, but can be bought online and then received on a mobile device in the form of an app. Once the download is done, you will be allowed to start traveling (and on the process save money).
Disabled Persons Railcard
For those people with disabilities who are eligible for the Disabled Persons Railcard, it means that the card holder gets a one-third reduction on the rail fare for himself or herself and for a friend or travel partner.
From as cheap as twenty pounds for one year or fifty-four pounds for the next three years, the options are not limited to peak seasons alone.
Family & Friends Railcard
Engage in activities such as going shopping, going to a museum, or seeing the countryside, and you will be able to save a significant amount of money on your rail journey. The Family & Friends Railcard allows for up to four adults to receive a discount of one-third, and up to four children between the ages of five and fifteen to receive a discount of sixty percent. As the name suggests, the users do not need to be connected; all they need to do is travel together.
The annual fee is only thirty pounds, and you may save this amount and even more on the very first trip.
Network Railcard
In the South East England region, you and up to three other adults and up to four children can take advantage of a discount of one-third off rail fares. More than sixteen counties in the South East, including Greater London, are covered by the Network Railcard. Additionally, the card is valid in the region that is surrounded by distant locations such as Exeter, Worcester, Northampton, and Kings Lynn, which means that you might travel further than you might imagine.
A Network Railcard costs just £30 a year.
Senior Railcard
The most economical method of taking the train for those 60 and up.
The Senior Railcard is an excellent value at £30 per year; it provides immediate savings of 1/3 on all Off-Peak journeys. The 3-year Railcard is an even better deal at £70.
Almost 60 yet still in the 50s?You might wish to check out the Network Railcard for the Southeast region, the Two Together Railcard for frequent travellers, or the Family & Friends Railcard.
Two Together Railcard
You and the person you travel with the most will receive a discount of one-third on your off-peak rail travel. This discount is not limited to couples; it can be applied to anyone who travels with you, including family members or your closest friend.
This could be the greatest value Railcard for you because it costs only thirty pounds each year, meaning that if you split the cost between the two of you, it will only cost fifteen pounds each.
Veterans Railcard
Customers can now purchase the brand new Veterans Railcard. Veterans of the United Kingdom who have served for at least one day in either the Regular or Reserve branches of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces or Merchant Mariners who have seen duty on legally defined military operations are eligible for this programme.
