CAGE CRAWL

Pulling yourself along a 48′ pit of water with 4″ to breathe might not make you panic, but it will definitely make you pee at least a little bit.

HOW TO CONQUER

While on your back, acquire a deft grasp of the fence. Float as near to the water’s surface as you can by pulling yourself along with it. If you want to stay afloat, you need to give yourself plenty of room to breathe; therefore, don’t draw the fence too close to the water’s surface. This one will put your mental toughness to the test.

THE BLOCK NESS MONSTER

HOW TO CONQUER

Cooperation is key in The Block Ness Monster. It calls for robust dialogue between those you know and those you don’t. It will take a lot of people to elevate one side, while an even larger number will bring down the other. A small group of individuals can shimmy over the rotating top once it’s in motion.

OBSTACLE TRAINING TIPS

Unity is what you need when you meet the Block Ness Monster. However, one should have the ability to go up and down from the block. Surely, proper development of the muscles of the upper body is a plus. Although you will still have to raise and lower the block, it will be less difficult when there are more hands. Therefore, all you have to do is concentrate on raising your own body weight.

A HISTORY: BLOCK NESS MONSTER

The Block Ness Monster exemplifies how their obstacle invention process may be as bizarre and surprising as they come. Throughout the innovation journey, both discovery and invention are always evolving. The blocks were originally created with the intention of having participants run across them by an intern at Tough Mudder. People began to push and tug the blocks during testing when they kept falling in. From there, the story unfolds.

MUDDERHORN

Forty feet up, forty feet down, with nothing but a net.

HOW TO CONQUER

Keep your cool and imagine you’re on a really tall ladder as you climb up. As you climb, maintain a decent steady speed, weight distributed evenly, and eyes front. Once you get to the peak, maintain the same rhythm, but turn it around.

OBSTACLE TRAINING TIPS

On the other hand, there are a few things you may do to help you overcome your fear of heights, even though there is no actual training for a fear of heights. Leg strength and grip strength are two key areas that will be of use to you. Every time you are on the cargo net, you should make sure that you are well balanced and that you are able to comfortably hold your body weight.

A HISTORY: MUDDERHORN
An iconic background to the starting line, the Giant-A-Frame structure was first used at WTM 2016. Mudderhorn was well-received, but its intricacy and size prevented it from being considered for wider use in 2017 and 2018. Mudderhorn was ultimately shrunk for Tough Mudder Classic in 2019, and it was released seasonally to the satisfaction of participants after a re-focus on the construction.
