The faces of DutchGrown are two brothers named Ben and Pete. Their family has a tale that they would like to share with you. Here DutchGrown have the chronicle of a family line that dates back more than 150 years. One that includes four generations, three centuries of history, two continents, and the odd sibling feud. The journey that began here has led them to become one of the most illustrious and long-standing flower bulb exporters in the Netherlands.

Pete and Ben are still in Europe, though they’re in separate nations now, four generations later. While Ben refined his enormous talents in the Netherlands, Pete spent fifteen years in the US building the company’s internet presence. DutchGrown focus on what they do best. Ben is known as the “people person” and an authority in flower bulbs. In addition to being an expert networker, he is always willing to lend a hand to customers and has great relationships with all of the Dutch growers.

Pete, the techie with over 20 years of experience in website development, is the brains behind DutchGrown. In spite of his reputation as a computer nerd, he manages to be remarkably affable and even gets out of his basement to meet with clients occasionally. Actually, he and Ben do a lot of travelling to the US, EU, and UK for flower bulb expos and shows, where they meet and greet clients, make friends for life, and generally have a great time.

In 1882, their great-grandfather sent the Rotteveels on the road to their fate, and DutchGrown adventure began then. After starting off in the Netherlands on the family farm, where he helped raise bulbs, he eventually moved to Germany and started selling them to other farmers. Their great-grandfather was an early Dutch flower bulb exporter to the United States; a year later, opportunity, desire, and adventure led him to board a boat and go to New York. Their grandpa and dad carried on the business of selling flower bulbs, passing down their knowledge and experience from generation to generation. They were very successful, and they never compromised on quality or the happiness of their customers.
