All About Represent

The prestigious British record label Represent was founded in 2011 by brothers Mike and George Heaton. Each series showcases the brand’s commitment to meticulous design and manufacture through its craftsmanship. As a student assignment, George Heaton had the idea to sell t-shirts featuring his artwork. George set up a booth to showcase his clothing at an event in 2012, when he had just launched the product. With the boom of the company’s B2B and online sales, George had the freedom to experiment with new designs and production techniques.

Long, flowing pieces reminiscent of Rolls-Royce automobiles were included in the premiere campaign, Ghost. The label’s 2015 Storm collection was another offering; it was shot in Iceland. In 2016, Represent earned publicity and held its maiden runway show in Paris, thanks to an exchange with Justin Bieber in Manchester. The brand also designed the Alpha V2 and HEATON sunglasses by LURA, as well as the Dusk footwear.

Represent had a spectacular year during New York Fashion Week 2017, debuting both the The New Breed (FW17) and Wide Awake (SS18) collections. The business also opened a temporary store in Los Angeles as part of their lengthy journey (50 flights and almost six months abroad). In 2018, Represent moved its jersey and manufacturing activities to Portugal as part of a new supply chain vision. The company’s shift from wholesale to online sales and weekly shipments coincided with the release of notable products like the 247 trouser and the Reptor shoe.

The company’s goal in revamping its website and expanding its 247 trouser line was to attract a broader range of clients. The year 2022 was a banner year for the brand as it focused on expanding globally and establishing a physical presence. The company expanded through in-store promotions, pop-up stores, and worldwide events; the latter attracted almost 2,000 visitors to the Manchester location. As the number of employees rose from thirty to sixty and a Community Day was organised in Manchester, the company’s engagement with the neighbourhood grew substantially. Until at least 2023, the mission will continue uninterrupted.
