In those days, the British high street had only two options: delicate and formal or sturdy and unromantic. Emma suddenly saw her mother’s kitchen dresser. She pictured it in the china shop with its bright, mismatched pottery. It was evident that only manufacturing china herself could fulfil the aim. But she had no idea how or where.

A friend recommended Stoke-on-Trent by casual discussion. Emma Bridgewater, the iconic modern ceramic brand, was born. They ‘ve stuck to that original, inspired moment’s emphasis on intellect and design for 30 years.
