Jones Bootmaker is a British footwear store with 42 retail locations in the United Kingdom. In 1886, Jones Bootmaker was established. After moving from their former location, Alfred and Emma Jones founded a shoe store in Bayswater, London, in 1857. With the American Lighting Association, Jones was also a pioneer in the installation and maintenance of electric lighting in retail establishments. A. Jones and sons and A. Jones and sons were the names of the enterprises established by nine of their eleven sons throughout the course of the years. A novelty for both the company and the industry was the availability of ready-made shoes in three different widths.

A warehouse in Eastbourne was built, old stores were modernised, and new stores were opened across the country to meet the increased demand following World War II. In 1955, Jones became a member of the Church’s corporation after the company’s ability to meet demand for its products was outstripped. Jones Bootmaker, formerly known as City Bootmaker, was established in Manchester in 1996 as a branch of the ‘City Bootmaker’ brand.

Following the 2001 sale of Jones Bootmaker to an unnamed private investor, a financial consortium purchased the company in 2006 as a result of Prada’s purchase of Church’s. The Macintosh Retail Group bought it in 2010, and then Alteri Investors, backed by Apollo Global Management, bought it back in 2015.

On March 26, 2017, Jones was purchased by Endless LLP as part of a pre-pack administration arrangement, which led in the preservation of 72 of the company’s locations. Alteri presented a notice of intent to appoint administrators on March 15, 2017. According to Pavers Shoes’ website, the Endless chain has been purchased by the end of February 2018.
